Key to Exercise 14 from Allen

Note: One may be confused by § 14.11.2 and
footnote 1 on p. 161, which seem to imply that infinitives
and verbal nouns are disjoint concepts. This is however not the case,
since § 14.2 clearly states
that the infinitive is a special kind of verbal noun.
Therefore, where the key states that nftft must be a verbal noun,
technically this does not exclude the possibility that nftft
may be more specifically an infinitive. Yet,
according to § 14.11.2 it is more likely that nftft
is a kind of verbal noun other than the infinitive.
